Floating Plants are a great way to add vegetation and boost the bio capacity to your pond:
- Needs no pot, floats on the water surface
- Grows rapidly
- Produces lush green / red leaves
- Grows small dangling root system that absorbs nutrients from the water column helping to quell algae growth
- Root system provides extensive surface area for colonization by beneficial bacteria
- Harvesting
excess nutrients from your pond is as easy as raking out extra plants
periodically throughout the season and tossing them on your compost
pile.
- Fish love to nibble the nutritious roots (in the presence of large fish, plants may need protection in our Safe Havens)
- Grow as an annual in northern states (Killed by heavy frost, replace annually)
- Can be contained in one section of your pond with our Plant Corrals.
- Shade water to keep it cooler in the summer
- Provide shelter for fish.
