Floating Plants are a great way to add vegetation and boost the bio capacity to your pond:

  • Needs no pot, floats on the water surface
  • Grows rapidly
  • Produces lush green / red leaves
  • Grows small dangling root system that absorbs nutrients from the water column helping to quell algae growth
  • Root system provides extensive surface area for colonization by beneficial bacteria
  • Harvesting excess nutrients from your pond is as easy as raking out extra plants periodically throughout the season and tossing them on your compost pile.
  • Fish love to nibble the nutritious roots (in the presence of large fish, plants may need protection in our Safe Havens)
  • Grow as an annual in northern states (Killed by heavy frost, replace annually)
  • Can be contained in one section of your pond with our Plant Corrals.
  • Shade water to keep it cooler in the summer
  • Provide shelter for fish.
