Basic Bio Filters provide the housing and surface areas for beneficial bacteria. The complete kits include the housing, no clog media, fittings and media grate. Does not include pumps and tubing.
Features
Our Biological Filters (Bio-Filters) are the essence of simplicity.

    * As pond water enters the bottom of the filter housing (Section C) the water slows considerably allowing suspended solids  to settle out into the base of the filter.
    * The water then flows upward through the filter media (Section B).
    * Bacteria living on the media convert toxic ammonia and nitrites to harmless nitrates.
    * Plants in the top of the filter (Section A) are optional, but highly recommended because they will consume nitrates and other nutrients that cause pea-soup algae.  (order separately)
    * The water is aerated as it returns to the pond from the top of the filter.
    * Installation is simple and requires virtually no plumbing. Complete filters include fittings and media support grate. Available in black only.
